As a baseball player, it's hard to find a better team than the Los Angeles Dodgers, or should I say the New York Yankees? No, wait, it definitely has to be the Dodgers. Over the past two weeks, outfielder Michael Siani has been experiencing the unique back-and-forth shuffle between these two major market powerhouses firsthand.
This 26-year-old player was claimed off waivers by the Dodgers on December 12 last year. After spending more than a month in Los Angeles, the defending champions needed to clear a roster spot for outfielder Kyle Tucker, and as a result, designated Siani for assignment (DFA) on January 21 this year.
After two days of waiting, Siani was claimed by the Yankees. He spent five days in New York before being designated for assignment again on January 28, as the Yankees acquired fireballer Angel Chivilli from the Colorado Rockies.
After nearly a week of waiting this time, Siani quickly returned to the warm embrace of the Dodgers, who re-signed him from the Yankees today.
Receiving ongoing attention from these perennial contenders is undoubtedly a confidence boost for this journeyman, who has played 160 major league games (with the Reds and Cardinals) and holds an OPS of just 0.547. It’s also worth noting that after being signed by the Atlanta Braves on November 6 last year, he spent about a month with that team as well.
