The Rangers continue to strengthen the Little League to sign two Guerrilla Golden Gloves and Fast Leg Tool Men

The Rangers today added two-time Golden Glove winner Nick Ahmed and speedy tool Sam Haggerty, both of whom signed minor league contracts and received invitations to major league spring training.

Ahmed, who is turning 35 this year, won back-to-back National League Shortstop Golden Glove awards with the Sidewinders in 2018 and 2019, the only two single-season single-season home runs of his career, hitting 16 and 19 home runs, respectively. However, since 2022, he has been plagued by injuries, signing a minor league contract with the Giants in 2024 before moving on to the Dodgers and Padres.

Haggerty, who turned 31 in May this year, is a typical tool man who can shoot left and right, has the ability to fight in multiple positions in both the inside and outside field. He made his major league debut with the Mets in 2019 and spent the next five seasons with the Mariners. Last May, he was sidelined for the season with a torn right Achilles tendon, leaving just one of his 15 hits. He has a career batting average of 0.232, nine home runs and 40 RBIs.

With the addition of these two free agents, the Rangers have 27 non-Roster invitees (NRI) players who are not on the 40-man roster but have been invited to participate in Major League Spring Training, and the team's first all-team practice will take place on Feb. 17.
