Are the Los Angeles Dodgers still looking to strengthen their infield? Hye-seong Kim's situation looks grim! American media bluntly state he shouldn't be traded.

The controversy over Los Angeles Dodgers’ Korean infielder Hye-seong Kim being entirely left out in this year's playoffs continues to simmer post-season. The U.S. sports column "Dodgers Way" started a conversation, advising that the Dodgers give Kim more chances and, with the current team, "there’s no need to obsess over infield reinforcements!"

The Dodgers were previously rumored to be interested in acquiring Brendan Donovan from the St. Louis Cardinals, a versatile player aimed at boosting infield depth while also valued for his ability to move to the outfield. However, the report pointed out: "To get Donovan, the Dodgers would have to give up promising prospects. With their own farm system intact, such trades shouldn’t happen. Why pursue Donovan when they already have Hye-seong Kim?"

The article further analyzed that the Dodgers initially demoted Kim to Triple-A at the start of the season and only promoted him to the majors in early May, after which he was not placed in a regular starting role and was completely benched throughout the playoffs. In reality, Kim’s defensive range covers second base, center field, and shortstop, and he has also played third base and corner outfield positions. Notably, when he replaced Miguel Rojas as the ninth batter, he frequently helped connect the core lineup that includes Shohei Ohtani.

Currently, the Dodgers are rumored to be pursuing either Donovan or outfielder Steven Kwan. If a trade happens, the likelihood of Kim being traded will significantly increase. "Dodgers Way" emphasized that Kim appeared in 71 games this season, hitting .280 with 13 stolen bases, performing excellently both offensively and defensively, and there is absolutely no reason to trade him.
