The United States pitching staff receives a major boost as Skubal leads four top pitchers confirmed for next year's Classic.

The American pitching roster got a significant upgrade today, with Tarik Skubal, Mason Miller, Logan Webb, and David Bednar all confirmed to represent Team USA in the 2026 World Baseball Classic (WBC).

With this, the USA starting rotation will feature both the 2025 AL and NL Cy Young Award winners—Skubal and Paul Skenes. Tigers ace lefty Skubal has won the AL Cy Young for two consecutive years, while Skenes, already on the WBC roster, just earned his first NL Cy Young with the Pirates. Although Webb hasn’t won a Cy Young, he is elite, finishing in the top six in NL Cy Young voting for the past three years.

In the bullpen, Padres’ blazing fastball closer Miller is regarded as one of the most dominant relievers in MLB today. Alongside Bednar (who posted a 2.30 ERA and 27 saves during his 2025 stints with the Pirates and Yankees), Team USA has assembled a luxurious pitching staff aiming to reclaim the Classic title.

In the 2025 season, Skubal recorded a 13-6 record with a 2.21 ERA and 241 strikeouts for the Tigers, continuing his dominant form from 2024 when he went 18-4 with a 2.39 ERA and 228 strikeouts.

Webb delivered another strong 2025 campaign, pitching 207 innings—the most in MLB—with a 15-11 record and a 3.22 ERA, marking the third straight year he led the league in innings pitched.

In 60 relief appearances during 2025, Miller struck out 104 batters over 61.2 innings with a 2.63 ERA. His fastball averaged 101.2 mph, making him the only pitcher in the league capable of throwing over 104 mph.

After being traded from the Pirates to the Yankees at the 2025 deadline, Bednar became a key bullpen figure. In five postseason games as closer, the veteran right-hander posted a 1-1 record, 2 saves, and a stingy 1.50 ERA.

The USA lineup is equally formidable, led by stars including captain Aaron Judge, Cal Raleigh, and Bobby Witt Jr.

Team USA won the Classic championship in 2017 but finished as runners-up after losing to Japan in the 2023 final.

According to the schedule, Team USA will open Group B against Brazil on March 7, 2026, at 9 a.m. Beijing time (March 6, 8 p.m. Eastern Time) at Houston’s Minute Maid Park.
