The ticket prices for the China Baseball City League (CPB) have sparked lively discussions among Chinese baseball fans.

The China Baseball City League (CPB) will kick off on January 1, 2026. As a brief one-month “Beginning of Spring League,” the finals are planned from January 29 to February 1. The league released the regular season ticket prices on the 15th, provoking extensive discussion among Chinese baseball enthusiasts.

Currently, the league has confirmed four participating teams: Shenzhen Blue Sox, Fuzhou Sea Hawks, Xiamen Dolphins, and Shanghai Zhengda Dragons. Several Taiwanese coaches are involved, including former Uni-President Lions head coach Lü Wensheng (coaching Fuzhou Sea Hawks) and ex-Hsinchu Bulls pitcher Cai Dongzhi (coaching Xiamen Dolphins). Additionally, former professional players such as Lin Yiquan, Huang Yongchuan, Wang Shicong, and Zhang Xikai are rumored to be joining various teams.

The main venue for this league is Shenzhen Zhongshan Park Baseball Stadium, with the Zhongshan International Baseball and Softball Center serving as the secondary field. According to the official website, the stadium covers 20,000 square meters, features natural grass, and has a seating capacity of 550 spectators.

On the 15th, the league announced regular season ticket prices on social media. The “home team package” tickets, which include a limited edition jersey (20 per team), went on sale first on the 17th at discounted prices of 1498 RMB for Shenzhen Blue Sox and Shanghai Zhengda Dragons (7 games), and 1598 RMB for Xiamen Dolphins and Fuzhou Sea Hawks (8 games).

Single game regular tickets are priced as follows: infield stands cost 259 RMB on weekdays and 299 RMB on holidays; outfield stands are 159 RMB on weekdays and 199 RMB on holidays; VIP seats are uniformly priced at 688 RMB.

For a semi-professional league still in its early stages, these ticket prices surprised many Chinese fans, who commented things like “I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I saw the prices,” “I hope the league respects its audience first,” “This shows too much confidence in the mainland baseball market,” and “I thought I missed a decimal point.”

For comparison, the more established Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) tickets for the CTBC Brothers’ regular season at Taipei’s Dome range from about 112 to 225 RMB, and at Taichung Intercontinental Baseball Stadium from about 68 to 158 RMB. The CPBL championship tickets at the Intercontinental Stadium range from roughly 180 to 293 RMB, similar to the CPB league’s prices; while championship tickets at Taipei Dome range from about 180 to 630 RMB.
