The unusually long list of starting pitchers potentially available via trade this offseason may best be illustrated by reports that multiple 2025 playoff teams are willing to part with their top pitchers.
Against this backdrop, ESPN reporter Alden Gonzalez mentioned in discussing this winter’s trade rumors that the Los Angeles Dodgers are open to trading Tyler Glasnow, possibly including him as part of a large package to acquire two-time Cy Young lefty Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers.
“Tyler Glasnow’s name has come up in talks, and the Dodgers are not opposed to trading him,” Gonzalez wrote. “There are certainly several teams willing to bet on his health to make his contract worthwhile.”
This is an intriguing and plausible suggestion, especially considering the depth the Dodgers will have in their starting rotation if healthy in 2026. However, Glasnow himself offered some clarification during an interview with MLB Network Radio today.
“I’ve seen some rumors about me being traded, so I don’t know what to believe,” Glasnow said. “But I’ve talked with Andrew Friedman, the Dodgers’ President of Baseball Operations, and the front office, and they told me, ‘No, you’re not going anywhere.’ So they assured me I’m not being traded, and I trust them.”
Such reassurance is clearly welcome for the 32-year-old Southern California native Glasnow.
“I feel like whenever baseball gets overwhelming or stressful, sometimes stepping back and thinking, ‘Man, what are you freaking out about? You’re actually living the dream, pitching at Dodger Stadium,’ is really helpful.”
“I have moments where I look up at the seats I used to sit in and just soak it all in,” he added. “I really think about my younger self, and I don’t think he’d even believe all this. I think he’d feel like someone’s lying to him.”
