The New York Yankees have agreed to a minor league deal with first baseman Dominic Smith, a source told MLB's Mark Feinsund. The club has yet to confirm the deal.
An eight-year league veteran, Smith hit six home runs and 34 RBIs in 93 games between the Redskins and Red Sox, 84 of which came from the Boston Red Sox, batting 0.233/0.313/0.378 in threes. He was designated for surrender by the Cincinnati Reds on Sept. 2.
Smith was selected by the New York Mets with the 11th pick in the 2013 draft, and he spent the first six seasons of his career in Queens, where he knocked out 46 home runs and batted a 3-shot 0.246/0.308/0.424.
