Nine-time All-Star Craig Kimbrel joins the Houston Astros bullpen.

As reported by Mark Feinsand on the MLB official site, nine-time All-Star reliever Craig Kimbrel has agreed to join the Astros. Although the Astros have not officially announced it, the news is already on the website.

For the 37-year-old right-handed pitcher, this will be his second major league experience this season. He was released by the Braves after pitching a scoreless inning on June 6.

Afterwards, Kimbrel signed a minor league contract with the Rangers and appeared in 24 games for their Triple-A Round Rock team, recording a 3.86 ERA over 21 innings with 28 strikeouts.

Kimbrel is one of the most accomplished relievers in MLB history, having won the Reliever of the Year award four times and earning the Rookie of the Year honors in 2011 when he burst onto the scene with the Braves. He was also the closer for the Red Sox during their 2018 World Series championship season.

Overall, Kimbrel has accumulated 440 career saves (fifth most in MLB history), a 2.59 ERA across 810.2 innings pitched, and has struck out 1,266 batters in his career.
