Nguyễn Thùy Linh continues to hold the best ranking among Vietnamese players on the world badminton leaderboard following the iconic Nguyễn Tiến Minh.
Vietnam's top badminton player, Nguyễn Thùy Linh, retains her position in the latest rankings updated by the BWF (Badminton World Federation) on February 3rd.
Accordingly, Thùy Linh continues to hold the 21st position worldwide with 48,930 accumulated points, just under 1,000 points behind the 20th spot held by Lin Hsiang-ti from Chinese Taipei. The "Vietnamese badminton beauty" currently ranks 18th in Asia and 6th in Southeast Asia according to this ranking.
Competing internationally without a coach amid the strong rise of young talents from Japan, South Korea, China, and Thailand, Thùy Linh’s ability to maintain a high ranking close to the world top 20 in women's singles badminton is very encouraging. She remains the second highest-ranked Vietnamese player in badminton history, only behind the legend Nguyễn Tiến Minh, who reached the world top 5 in 2010.
Currently, the player from Đồng Nai is ranked above many notable names in women’s badminton globally, including former world number one Nozomi Okuhara (22nd), Zhang Beiwen (23rd), Yeo Jia Min (28th), and Paris Olympic bronze medalist Gregoria Mariska Tunjung (ranked 34th).
In the past week, Nguyễn Thùy Linh did not participate in the Super 300 Thailand Mastersand took time to rest after two successful weeks competing in India and Indonesia. The Phú Thọ native is expected to return after the Lunar New Year break to compete in the European tour, starting with the prestigious Super 1000 All England Open.
